Essential Functions:
  • Perform nondestructive inspections to evaluate the properties and condition of materials, components, and systems without causing damage.
  • Perform Ultrasonic Testing (UT) using methods such as phased array, pulse-echo, shear wave, and through-transmission techniques.
  • Utilize applicable NDI methods and equipment to verify parts and manufacturing processes comply with engineering, customer, and quality requirements.
  • Set up, calibrate, standardize, and operate ultrasonic inspection equipment in accordance with approved procedures and applicable specifications.
  • Process and inspect aircraft components and assemblies while accurately interpreting and evaluating inspection results for acceptance or rejection.
  • Document inspection results, findings, and nonconforming conditions in accordance with applicable procedures and quality requirements.
  • Perform required system performance checks and equipment standardization in accordance with applicable process standards.
  • Establish inspection techniques from approved general procedures, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Identify, document, and communicate nonconforming conditions and assist with corrective actions as required.
  • Maintain inspection equipment, records, certifications, and required documentation.
  • Provide guidance, training, and technical support to less experienced NDI personnel and trainees as required.
  • Support audit surveillance of nondestructive inspection processes and ensure compliance with applicable specifications, procedures, and standards.
  • Follow all company, customer, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in a related technical discipline and 3 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience performing Ultrasonic Testing (UT) in an aerospace, manufacturing, or other precision inspection environment.
  • Experience with one or more UT methods, including:
    • Phased Array.
    • Pulse-Echo.
    • Shear Wave.
    • Through-Transmission.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, inspection procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Strong understanding of nondestructive testing principles, inspection procedures, and quality requirements.
  • Ability to accurately document inspection results and identify nonconforming conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.

Certifications & Training:
  • Ultrasonic Testing Level I or Level II certification, as applicable to the position.
  • Minimum 40 hours of formal UT Level I training for Level I qualification.
  • Minimum 40 hours of formal UT Level II training for Level II qualification.
  • 800+ hours of documented Ultrasonic Testing on-the-job training (OJT) preferred/required based on applicable qualification level.
  • NAS 410 certification or qualification required for applicable aerospace NDT positions.
  • Level III candidates must meet applicable NAS 410 and customer requirements for Level III certification.
